The Russia government enacted sweeping legislation in 2010 to support the development of a domestic pharmaceutical industry and to encourage international pharmaceutical companies to establish local production and R&D collaborations in Russia.

To help respond, Abbott hired PBN Hill+Knowlton Strategies to design and implement a comprehensive government stakeholder, corporate positioning and market access program. We conducted media relations, executive positioning and advocacy programs to generate support for Abbott’s investment plans in Russia. The firm has also assisted Abbott on several market access programs, including, in 2005, helping to resolve conflicts in the state tender process for Abbott’s HIV/AIDS medicine Kaletra. For Abbott Nutrition, we launched a media relations and outreach program to introduce Abbott’s new nutritional supplement products to the Russian market and medical professionals.
